"Bibio’s music sounds timeless, and his past two releases, "Vignetting the Compost" and "Ovals and Emeralds", are full of beautifully produced folk-tinged electronic songs. Using found sounds and vintage instruments, the native of central England crafts folk revisions of Boards of Canada-like psychedelia, each song like a postcard from other worlds".

the lonely tree
L'Arbre du Ténéré, known in English as the Tree of Ténéré, was a solitary acacia, that was once considered the most isolated tree on Earth — the only one within more than 200 kilometres.
It was the last surviving tree of a group of trees that grew when the desert was less parched than it is today. The tree had stood alone for decades. During the winter of 1938–1939 a well was dug near the tree and it was found that the roots of the tree reached the water table 33–36 meters below the surface.
The tree was allegedly knocked down by a drunk Libyan truck driver in 1973. On November 8, 1973 the dead tree was relocated to the Niger National Museum in the capital Niamey.[1] It has been replaced by a simple metal sculpture representing a tree.

Folke Köbberling und Martin Kaltwasser
Wysing Arts Centre /Cambridge, England
"Over the past month Folke Köbberling and Martin Kaltwasser have been building a giant amphitheatre out of junk. With the aid of volunteers and intrigued onlookers, the German duo have almost finished and the result is worth a visit. As a study in patchwork construction, it is a magical space of chambers fabricated by borrowers, and has a glory unmatched by any corporate office block. It helps that Kaltwasser is an architect, so the building is structurally sound and user-friendly. The two have been collaborating since 1998, creating amorphous forms out of trash that retain a childlike simplicity in spite of rigorous engineering. "

The Crack Garden
CAGMG Landscape Architecture
Inspired by the tenacious plants that pioneer the tiny cracks of urban landscapes, a backyard is transformed through hostile takeover of an existing concrete slab by imposing a series of "cracks". The rows of this garden contain a lushly planted mix of herbs, vegetables, flowers, and rogue weeds retained for their aesthetic value.

cinder block bird house
"The goal of this project was to design a birdhouse using the element of surprise. A cinder block hanging from a tree is definitely a surprising sight. The bird houses could also be stacked on the ground to created a bird apartment building!"

The Tree Listening Project
The Tree Listening Project by London based artist Alex Metcalf aims to provide an experience that links both science and art by engaging the public with what happens inside a tree, and to excite and inspire a keen interest in trees.
The installation allows you to listen to the water moving up inside the tree through the Xylem tubes from the roots to the leaves.
